I believe E. 21st Street is the worst street in Oakland in terms of quality of cementing, driveability and number of potholes, given the high resident traffic as it is a thoroughfare between 14th Avenue & 5th Avenue. I am hoping it is already on the PW list for complete repaving, but if not, please put it on the list.

The City of Oakland Public Works Agency has received this issue. It is registered as service request # 441693. Thank you, in advance, for your patience as we work through a backlog of pothole service requests. Unfortunately the City does not have enough funding to repave all streets in poor condition. With limited funding, our response to resurfacing requests is limited to minor pavement and pothole repairs only. Our Street Maintenance Department will assess your street and determine whether temporary measures might be appropriate. Please understand that this work may be limited to pothole or other minor repairs, and that we have many similar requests. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner. The backlog of streets in Oakland needing pavement currently is $435 million and growing.

Yes, E. 21st has been overlooked for too long. Even members of my family who have moved elsewhere cannot remember the artery from 14th Avenue to 5th Avenue so bumpy and full of holes that it resembles being on an unpaved, mountain road. I once was told by my council rep that it has to be on the docket. Well that was 5 years ago! My 86 year old mom had to repair her 2001 Chrysler a year ago, and she was told it was from the potholes. The last time I recall pothole repairs was just a band aid solution. With so many holes, I worry about sinkholes! When 5th Avenue was paved from E. 23rd Street to E. 18th (?) that parallels Park Blvd; and 9th Avenue was paved from E. 21st to Foothill, that doesn't have the same through traffic as E. 21st Street, I wonder what the justification is. On many days, E. 21st Street can be as traveled as E. 18th Street. I have taken parallel streets to get to 14th Avenue and Park Blvd.but why should I have bypass the street I live on.

Come on guys, this is ridiculous an dangerous. This is the main street through the area. Vehicles have been damaged, even six months ago.. and it only is much worse now that its continued to be ignored. This is not a minor fix issue. You may have a backlog, but this needs to move to the top of your list.
