I thought the plan was to take a deadly road and make it safer. Without a center guard rail we will continue to see lives lost. I will not drive on this section of road, I'll stick to the back roads!

What "Ridgefield" are you idiots living in? I've been living here 20+ years and since they widened Route 7 I've NEVER HEARD of any "head on collisions" except the recent one down in the middle of the construction area coming off I84. I think I'd like to try what you guys are smoking.

I'm no longer amazed or upset at the way people comment on any site. The last comment is one of a silly and nasty fool. I do not have the records of how many accidents have occurred on the widened 7 but I also know that there were no space shuttle disasters before the Challenger, the Concord had a perfect record before it didn't, and our air- traffic was quite safe before 9/11.

Again, the argument by Gypsy, as rude as it may be , is also incorrect. BP could argue a month ago that their drilling procedures are quite safe. Cars are now travelling 60mph or more on this road and when there is bad conditions, and with enough bad days, there will be a collision. It's just a matter or time.

I can't believe you people are such bad drivers that you feel you need center guardrails to keep from running into the opposite lane! What did you do on Route 7 before they widened it? People still drove fast, yet they all manage to stay in their own lanes. Unbelievable attitude, but not surprising in "Entitled Ridgefield".

Imagine if the FDR drive did not have a divider on it. The speed limit on the FDR is only 40mph! There is no entitlement here just concerned drivers who are terrified by too many who drive too fast in bad weather conditions. It is impossible for police to patrol these roads in bad weather. A divider, while not a panacea for this problem, would help.

Before construction when Rt. 7 had more hills, more curves and was much narrower than it is now, the speed limit was the same 45mph that it is today. And if we didn't need any center guardrails then, we certainly don't need to waste taxpayer money on them now. What a ridiculous request!

The problem is speading cars not going to posted limit. More police enforcement is needed as there are accidents caused by speading cars all the time. Cars practically run you off the road for going the speed limit. The yellow blinking light has been removed at West Starrs Plain Road and the light at the end of Bennetts Farm doesn't stay red long enough to slow anyone down.

Keep to the right and let the crazy drivers who are in such a damned hurry zoom by you. That's what I do.

There hasn't been a SINGLE "high speed head-on collision" in this area in the last 2 years. If I were you I'd put the pipe down, pal.
