Community Development will assign an inspector to check the property for violations of the City’s Grass and Weed ordinance. This ordinance only requires the cutting of grass or weeds over 8 inches in height and consume an abundance of the yard. We cannot require the trimming of trees, bushes, shrubs, ornamentals, ivy, poison ivy, oak or sumac. Thank you for contacting us.

This issue has been going on every year since I've been in the sub-division; ( WHICH IS " 8 " years !!!!!! As Community Developement, why haven't you taken care of this???? We in the sub-decision have to go through this every year with you people.

I am not completely sure but I think I remember HSV saying that the land is owned by individual or company and they fail to maintain it. So HSV schedules the cutting in their rotation when we complain about it and then attempts to send the owner the invoice for cutting. I just wish we didn't have to go through this process at every 8 inch of grass growth.

The owner is EDWARDS SPECIALTIES INC per tax records.

On July 23, 2015, Edwards Specialties, Inc. filed a voluntary petition for liquidation under Chapter 7 in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Alabama.

The property in question is the vacant property east of 2747 Slate Dr SW. As stipulated by the City ordinance, we must notify the last known assessor of the property each and every time the violation occurs. We have issued a notice for grass cutting, if not cut upon the final date, we'll cut the lot. Thank you for contacting us.
