Description

The potholes on Bayo Street and 39th Avenue starting at Reinhardt Drive are to the point where you have to dodge the potholes. I have lost count of how many potholes are located on these two streets. I have taken photos of some of the potholes (see attached). I have been living on Bayo Street since 1998 (14-years) and 14-years ago I was told Bayo Street was on the list to be resurfaced. To this day Bayo Street has become riddled with large potholes and 39th Avenue was resurfaced from Bayo to MacArthur and now from Bayo Street up to Aliso Avenue 39th Avenue should be resurfaced. It has become an act of dodging the potholes to drive to work or home. Please add these two streets, especially Bayo Street to the list of streets in Oakland to be resurfaced. It is depressing to drive around the city of Oakland and see other streets being resurfaced in more affluent neighborhoods, i.e., Montclair and the Glenview District. Take a look at the streets in the Laurel District. Please.

The City of Oakland Public Works Agency has received this issue. It is registered as service request # 439360. Thank you, in advance, for your patience as we work through a backlog of pothole service requests. Unfortunately the City does not have enough funding to repave all streets in poor condition. With limited funding, our response to resurfacing requests is limited to minor pavement and pothole repairs only. Our Street Maintenance Department will assess your street and determine whether temporary measures might be appropriate. Please understand that this work may be limited to pothole or other minor repairs, and that we have many similar requests. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner. The backlog of streets in Oakland needing pavement currently is $435 million and growing.

Bayo Street has been ignored too long it is time to resurface the entire street. There are too many potholes to fill.

Resurface Bayo Street & Upper 39th Avenue from Reinhardt Drive to Aliso. The streets are in deplorable conditions. There are so many potholes it has gotten to the point where you have to memorize the location of each pothole to avoid it after dark.

This has gone on for too long. Street needs replacing immediately. Dangerous and can now cause damage cars driving down street.
