don't just complain here - contact EAST CALN TWP OFFICE!!!! they need to solve this ridiculous ongoing problem along with PENDOT ... GO TO THE MEETINGS .... CONTACT THE 'SUPERVISORS' .... there are far too many accidents there - and the number of illegal turns and shoulder riding needs to be enforced .....

I did call Penn Dot months ago, no answer.
I will contact the supervisors.

Thank you for you imput, it is greatly appreciated, we need it done NOW....this is awful...you have to wait for 3 red lights to get thru because the treaffic is jammed on the shoulder and blocking Rt 30...this is illeagal...

They need to make it so that cars can get through AND ensure more than just a few cars get through turning left on to Quarry road. The congestion here is unbearable

You got that right...I agree 100%....Something has to be done. I am sure the supervisors know about this, whey are they not doing anything....God help us if we would have a disaster, no way of getting out of town, even with no congestion, there is no route to evacuate....the town is at a stand still....About a month ago, it took me 2 hours to get home to Downingtown, it should have taken 15 minutes....

The same thing happened to me...took me an hour and a half to get from Exton to Downingtown at rush hour...my daughter lives there...it is worse than West Chester where I live. Too many cars...too many housing developments rising up...too many people...stop having so many babies!!! They grow up and drive, ETC!!!

It would also help if there were 2 lanes heading west on Bus. 30 like there is heading east. When going west everyone has to jam into one lane at Quarry Road and tons of people wait until the last minute to do so. A second lane should be installed in front Quarry Rd, past the Wawa and Home Depot area and then merge to one lane past the Chick Fil A area at Woodbine Rd.

The cycle of the lights are wrong. Quarry road light is green and Bell Tavern road light is red. Then route 30 west changes to green but the light at Bell Tavern road is still red and the distance between the two is still full from the vehicles from Quarry road. Your luck if one or two vehicles get through the route 30 west light during the green cycle.

There is no excuse for not having the lights synchronized here. It's ridiculous that the Quarry Road light turns green, only to have the Bell Tavern light turn red. How does this make any sense? WAKE UP DOWNINGTOWN OFFICIALS!!!

You are certainly right, this is so stupid, you would think someone would wake up and see what goes on.

I agree and every time I am in a hurry I get stuck there. The whole area needs to be redesigned, rush hour or around here,rush hours !! its a mess.

I think D-town PD uses it as a money maker. They always are getting people running the light or blocking the intersection. Can you say Cha-Ching?

I grew up in West Chester and moved to Downingtown over 30 years ago. I have seen WC reinvent itself as a destination town with shopping and restaurants. Downingtown will always be a second class destination unless it starts to sort out it's traffic flow. At rush hour (crawl hours) we have a choice of sitting in traffic on the bypass, at the quarry road mess or slowly driving along boot road to the mess between Boot Rd and business Rt 30. At least work on the Quarry Road/Rt 30 mess.

I wrote to Rep. Curt Schroder about this complaint. He wrote to PennDot and they responded with "they changed the timing of this intersection and are adding a lane". Everyone, instead of complaining about Downingtown Officials and Police conspericies, write to your Representatives. Take action.

I never see cops at that intersection. They should be there. They could make a killing.

I have seen cops there quite often actually they are right in the middle on the "island" mostly at night.

I have sat at this very light 2 nights ago, 3 Separate green lights and Not 1 Car could turn left, you have to force your way through the intersection, its rediculous

Yes, I agree 100%, sometimes I sit 5-6 lights before anything moves. It is nerve racking, and don't know what they are waiting for to get this right....especially now with all the Christmas traffic. Please help us poor motorist....

Yes! Please! The people pushing their way through from business 30 need to be enforced by police! I have to force myself in most times. Something needs to be done, police need to monitor this intersection fully... I'm sure they'll meet monthly quotas in about 3 days ticketing people!

Along with retiming the lights, business 30 heading West of the Quarry road intersection needs to be 2 lanes. I have never understood why the short section between Quarry Rd and just past the Wawa is only one lane.
