National Grid owns the overwhelming majority of street lights in Quincy and is responsible for their repair. National Grid offers the city a 14-21 estimate to repair broken lights. Their estimate is dependent on good weather.

  How much does the city spend on electricity with National Grid annually? I would bet it is a substantial sum. Who in city hall is managing this vendor's performance? 14-21 days is unacceptable especially given that there are always children out at night in this location. Let's lean on this vendor and get the job done. Then let's get a service level agreement where we can get this done faster for all outages. Thanks for your prompt attention to this matter.

  I would gladly give you a pole number but it is so DARK on that block who could see a number? Where is the number? Isn't it enough that a person advises a street light is out? I know of one elderly lady RUN DOWN by a MBTA bus at this intersection. She died.

  Light is still out. On my next National Grid bill I will leave them a note saying the following "A work order has been submitted to pay this bill. This customer offers a 14-21 day estimate to pay bills. This estimate is dependent on good weather." PROBABLY WON'T GO OVER VERY WELL WILL IT? WHY? BECAUSE IT IS BAD BUSINESS.

  LIGHT IS STILL OUT. It's a miracle no one was killed in the snowstorm when rounding the curve then suddenly hitting that intersection that was blacked out from no lighting. Let's hope no one is killed tonight on New Year's Eve. :(

  I contacted National Grid myself and they tell me the standard turnaround once notified by the city is 10 days. Also, since you have avoided the issue, I found out independently that it is the DPW that is supposed to be managing this vendor. I guess it comes as no surprise then, given that last year someone at the DPW left the flood gates open and flooded many Quincy residents during a major storm. Please Chris, no more lines about this taking up to or possibly longer than 21 days to get a vendor that we spend a lot of tax money with to fix a darn light bulb. This city had close to 100 pedestrians hit by vehicle in 2012. Just what are we getting for our tax dollars??

  Thanks everyone for commenting on this issue. SeeClickFix exists as an open platform to encourage dialogue between citizen and public officials. It seems like the city of Qunicy is working to resolve this situation, and they've expressed a willingness to talk about this problem at greater length over the phone.

  The light is still out as I drove through the dark icy intersection last night.

  Linda Vaitkus' aunt was hit by a bus and killed in this intersection a few years ago. Please try to get this fixed. I walk my dog every night 2-3 times a night right past this light and my heart starts racing when I have to cross right there - it's pitch black.

  I want to update the people following this issue on SCF of what the City intends to do to rectify these problems. Last week the Mayor sent a letter of intent to National Grid for the city to purchase the more than 6,000 lights that cover our city streets. Finalizing the purchase of the lights will take at least two months, but once the deal is in place the City will be responsible for maintenance and will provide vastly improved response times to outage requests.   The light complained of is FIXED.
  Great to hear the news about te city's lights. I drove just 10 blocks or so down Sea Street to Adam Shore Market the other night and saw at least 5 lights out on Sea Street-our main road! Let's hope this new plan goes through!
