The City of Oakland Call Center has received this issue. It is registered as service request #709771. Thank you, in advance, for your patience as we work through a backlog of pothole service requests. Unfortunately the City does not have enough funding to repave all streets in poor condition. With limited funding, our response to resurfacing requests is limited to minor pavement and pothole repairs only. Our Street Maintenance Department will assess your street and determine whether temporary measures might be appropriate. Please understand that this work may be limited to pothole or other minor repairs, and that we have many similar requests. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner. The backlog of streets in Oakland needing pavement currently is $435 million and growing.

I've been in Oakland for 2 years now and I've needed tires, shocks, bearings and an axle. I've never need this much wheel related work to my car. It's so bad, that there are streets I won't even drive down because they are so riddled with potholes. I notice driving through the bettter parts of Oakland such as Piedmont, Montclair and the Dimond district, those residents don't face the same problems as East Oakland residents do. Their street are paved and are very smooth to drive down. It's very sad how the lower end neighborhoods are neglected by its own city. We're tax paying citizens just as well as they are. We deserve much better. Their are funds and ways to correct these issues, but it's at the city's discretion whether or not they want to fix these issues in these neighborhoods. If there weren't funds available, the so called "better" parts of Oakland would be facing the same problem. Since East Oakland is a lower end neighborhood, the city could careless about paving these streets.
