Description
The city of red deer need to incorporate restricted parking times (i.e. 1 hour max) where no parking meters exist in the downtown area on high demand streets to STOP those that do not live in this area from parking unrestricted all day. Residents in the area should be issued parking permits so they can park with no restriction. This will restrict daily abusers who want FREE parking at the expense of local residents and at the expense of paid parking lots in our downtown area which decreases our parking revenue. These FREE BE PARKING ARTISTS need to be stopped and stop taking advantage of local residents and contribute to our parking revenue in OUR DOWNTOWN. There is no room for these FREE BE PARKERS TO USE AND ABUSE OUR DOWNTOWN AND THE RESIDENTS THAT LIVE HERE.

Sounds like an issue of "NIMB" therefore - take it to council.

This is a parking meter problem. Therefore it should stay open until the city does something.

Sorry and pardon me, I made an error --- as per the advocate yesterday --
“Red Deer city council, senior management and other staff will take home a three per cent pay hike retroactive to Jan.1.On Monday, city council supported the pay hike by a vote of 7-2. Councillors Buck Buchanan and Chris Stephan were opposed……. Council’s salary now stands at $53,163 compared with $51,615 last year, while the mayor’s annual salary will run at $89,284 instead of $86,684. The city manager’s salary will rise to $216,216 from $209,919...... Councillors reasoned it is important to remain competitive with the private sector and retain good staff. Coun. Cindy Jefferies said it’s important to remain competitive with other municipalities.”
