We demand immediate action!
Passing it from one department to another is not fixing the ongoing problem. Maybe Surfsiders need to share issues on social media and with the press to get attention to ignored issues! We would like updates of what is happening!
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. The Town has the authority to regulate certain aspects of the placement and storage of beach furniture. We have notified the beachfront hotels to submit beach furniture operational plan for our review and approval. This matter will be resolved shortly. Please be patient.
But Mr Graham, the beach laws of Surfside specifically prohibit Hotels and Condos on the West side of Collins to set up chairs on our beaches and stirage on the beach is unlawful. Why aren't citations being issued? Whats up with that?
The Town's Beach Furniture Ordinance does not regulate the Residence Inn Marriot as to submitting a beach furniture operations plan. However, they must comply with the general regulations and policies that apply to the general public. We have met with representatives of the Marriot and they are aware of our expectations of them as to beach chair and umbrella storage and set-up. Please be assured that the Town will enforce our new Beach Furniture Ordinance.
