Over three years ago, I reported that the front yard of the historic home at 1712 Webster Street had been paved over for parking. Three years later, Code Enforcement has done little more that mark the report at "received." Is there any actual code enforcement taking place. If this code is no longer being enforced, why is it still on the books? The City Council passed this ordinance Could you please explain why this code is not being enforced? I would hope that this defacto waiver of city codes apply to all neighborhoods equally.

In response to Mr. Gerstle's complaints about people parking in their front yards, the police department recently started enforcing this law, much to the detriment of one particular family that has a 100% disabled child. The family has a van with a wheelchair lift, and they have a very small electric car. They must keep their van in their driveway, because it's the only way for the mother to load the child into the van. In addition, they must park their electric car partially on the grass (about 2 feet), because they need to charge it each night.
Now, because of the recent complaints about parking in front yards, the family was cited and is now required to park their van down the street, so that they can charge their electric vehicle in the driveway each night. Once the father leaves with the electric car, the mother needs to have someone inside of the house to watch the child, while she goes down the street to retrieve the van.
This law stinks; and snitching and tattletaling on neighbors is even worse. Please immediately close this issue.
