There is still considerable illegal camping going on at this sensitive habitat site and a large accumulation of trash that needs to be removed. Some habitat loss has occurred and the risk is great that more will be lost. The city spent over $250,000 to establish this site.

There are still illegal camp sites mostly hidden in the taller trees and shrubs that were planted. The area is very vulnerable to fire. This situation could interfere with ongoing invasive plant removal work underway by Friends of the River Banks and Friends of Sutter's Landing Park.

I just reviewed the area again this week and there are still a number of mostly well hidden in the tall riparian vegetation plantings. There are also several large piles of very visible trash at the site.
