The lack of communications between code enforcement and the city's entirely outsourced building department the last 10 years has probably cost the city quite a lot in lost permit fees and penalties against all the scammers building additions to their homes or turning single family homes into motel 6s, with every room rented out to random lodgers. You can see the decline by the insane number of cars parked all over the grass of many homes all over the city.
I agree. I just sent a complaint to to code enforcement that a 2/1 is selling as a 4/2 and the only people who are going to be hurt are the buyers. I was fined severely by code enforcement for my home. I tried to do things legally by getting permits for my home and code enforcement came in and found more things that were never permitted. And now code enforcement can stop other buyers from being hurt and nothing is done. Buyers beware.
