When recycling is picked up, I see the men taking plastic bags, empty pizza boxes, and other non recyclable items. The home owners may not know what is acceptable, but they should know.
Recycling and Single-Stream Recycling
Single-stream recycling is now city-wide. All customers can put cans, glass, mixed paper, plastic containers and cardboard out at the curb in the same recycling bin.
Starting January 5, 2009, single-stream recycling will be available weekly city-wide.
What can be recycled:
Metal: Tin and aluminum cans, empty aerosol cans, empty paint cans
Glass: Jars and bottles
Mixed Paper: Newspaper, magazines, mail, phone books, food boxes
Plastic Containers: #1 and #2 plastics (mostly beverage and detergent containers).
Cardboard: Empty and flattened
