Another sad thing, it seems to me that Oakland and Cal Tran do not want to cooperate or communicate with each other. We the citizens are caught in the middle and are the losers. No public policy from our City. No enforcement from our police. Cal Tran either doesn't know or care. Truly dysfunctional bureaucracy.

My guess is, the city doesn't do anything because of the homeless advocates screaming that the homeless are being discriminated against, to me you would think they would at least keep things clean, it's unhealthy to everyone

Sadly, Cal Trans is pointing the finger back at the City saying the area is their responsibility. Here is the response to my Cal Trans request below. Basically, they closed it and said, "Sorry, not us. It's Oakland's problem."

Are there any folks on here interested in grassroots lobbying for Uptown and San Pablo corridor. If we organize maybe we can get some action on this? Could this land be used for something like a garden, a welcome sign, public art space or all of the above? I feel like this whole community suffers from being a bunch of splintered factions.

A garden or any of the mention above would be great. The big question is: once if implemented, can it be kept from being run-over by encampments? Just look at the nice "park area" on the north-west corner of San Pablo & West Grand. It's full of tents

If we can procure a dumpster or garbage truck, I'd be happy as well to roll up my sleeves and clean the area up.
