Homeless have once again over turned blue trash barrels and spread litter on both sides of Wilson and both sides of Marine north and south. Tents are blocking S side of viaduct at Wilson ( per usual). Multiple tents, carts, garbage and junk. Wilson and Lawerence and Foster. Two unleashed dogs Wilson. . Drugs and booze present and in open use both Wilson and Lawerence. , Many cars stop and make visits into the tents. Possible drug sales? Or maybe just visiting the homeless? No apparent reduction in homeless living under the viaducts or in the park. Possibly the Commissioner of Family Support Services would have a second public meeting to present her data? Also the rising number of incidents reported involving homeless aggression.? Many city codes are being violated adding to escalating crime in Uptown. Health issue of homeless has yet to be addressed, both the risk to people living in the viaduct but also the transmission of disease of people brave enough to use the viaduct for passage. Guess Chicago Department of Public Health has never heard of drug resistant T.B., or hepatitis ?

I would suggest a well-being check for the person who reported this. To imagine that simply walking thru the viaduct would infect one with some sort of plague, well, I think someone should check and make sure that person is not a danger to themselves or others. I frankly worry about the well-being of the homeless with this level of paranoid delusion against them.

Might want to fact check on the spread of T.B. Might be news to you, its airborne. That is why hospitals have negative pressure rooms, that is why airlines must track any passengers exposed to people on planes with untreated or drug resistant T.B. You probably think evolution is a delusion as well. PS.T.B. is the leading cause of death in the world, yes it is very contagious, yes it is airborne.

I am a big fan of actual facts. From the Mayo Clinic: "Although tuberculosis is contagious, it's not easy to catch. You're much more likely to get tuberculosis from someone you live with or work with than from a stranger. Most people with active TB who've had appropriate drug treatment for at least two weeks are no longer contagious."
Stop spreading irrational fear. If you're afraid of contagion, WHY don't you pressure our city to house these people?! Chasing them out from under the bridges does not make them less contagious, btw.

Yes, that is a fact if treated T.B. is controllable, however multi-drug resistant T.B. results from individuals failing to comply with the medication regime. Thus the disease becomes resistant to the big three drugs used to treat it.and yes more lethal. Homeless are at great risk for multi drug resistant T.B because of failure to finish and or start meds, poor nutrition and drug use. If, they choose to not go into shelters then they become a public health risk. New York City had such a serious outbreak in the 1990's that they had to open a facility and actually do a mandated program for the homeless to control the spread of the disease. So, again do check your facts. " Drug resistant T.B. is a bit of a different beast, ask any Infectious Disease Person.

Might want to review CDC " Multi Drug Resistant T.B" facts and how it is spread. It is an excellent factual resource on " multi-drug resistant T.B. Just google CDC Multi Drug Resistant T.B. Distinctly different from the more simple bacteria in T.B. Multi Drug resistant means what it says. It is resistant to treatment , because of non compliance to medication . Probably you have not heard or understood the infection MERSA? Another drug resistant bacteria. Irrational fear, I think not. You have obviously never worked in a medical setting.Might want to read up on the New York study following a 100% increase in cases . The research was done at Bellevue over a 90 year time period,

And you obviously don't know any of the PEOPLE who live under those bridges. There is ZERO evidence that there is an outbreak of drug resistant TB in Chicago, let alone that any of our local tent city residents are infected. In 2015 there were just 124 cases of TB in a population of 2.7 million compared to 287 in 2006. This is an attempt to spread irrational fear. Stop it.
