Thanks for bringing this traffic matter to our attention. Monday through Saturdays there are timing plans that operate a large portion of the day with a lot of time allocated to the main through movements. Timing plans are used to create smooth mainline progression assuming there's significant amount of traffic. On Sundays the signal operates in free run which has no set allocated time for any turning movements, therefore allowing minor turning movements to be served quicker. The city has hired a private engineering firm to retime the New Bern Ave corridor and the work should be completed soon. If their retiming work doesn't satisfactorily address the complaint the traffic signal system staff will make adjustments.
