Perfect, because when I got out of my meeting, saw that the Operation Dignity email bounced back. How sad that is.

Thank you Happyfeelin. She is afraid to seek help, because she fears Child Protective Services will take her child away. I know some people judge the homeless as drug addicts and alcoholics, but when you see an innocent child and mother, you wonder what circumstances brought them to this terrible place. It must be something awful for her not to go back. We can only speculate. . .

I think it's times like this we need to get clergy involved also; we understand this because no matter what the issues are, each person has their reasons. There are people of color who had their children purposefully taken from them (I'm from NY originally and recall that happening to a friend) who ended up having to fight to get her child BACK from the foster care system.

Also, a link to Pastor Lowery's mission. I would HIGHLY recommend this be shared with her and let her know that they UNDERSTAND her fears about losing her child to the system. She can say she's a mother who is challenged and needs emergency housing for your child.

And it could very well be violence, so if that's the case, then she'll need help to navigate away from the hostility that ends up pushing many woman away from their homes, where they have come to depend on someone else to provide for them.
