Description
There is a homeless family camped out across from our office. She is a young single mother with a small child, maybe 2 years old. She appeared here about a month ago, she is very thin and we all fear for her and her child. She appears to have fallen on very difficult times and needs help ASAP.

I think it's times like this we need to get clergy involved also; we understand this because no matter what the issues are, each person has their reasons. There are people of color who had their children purposefully taken from them (I'm from NY originally and recall that happening to a friend) who ended up having to fight to get her child BACK from the foster care system.
If someone on this thread can email me at Beat7XReport@gmail.com and introduce themselves and may be in touch with her, I can send a message to one of the pastors I know that can potentially help. It's times like this when love needs to be the first form of safety.

Here's a couple of options:
West Oakland Women's Center - Women's resource. I'm sure if she says she has housing issues and doesn't want to be separated from her children, Susan Burgess-Lent, Executive Director
Based in Oakland, CA works towards these types of causes and is vigilant in helping.

Also, a link to Pastor Lowery's mission. I would HIGHLY recommend this be shared with her and let her know that they UNDERSTAND her fears about losing her child to the system. She can say she's a mother who is challenged and needs emergency housing for your child.

And it could very well be violence, so if that's the case, then she'll need help to navigate away from the hostility that ends up pushing many woman away from their homes, where they have come to depend on someone else to provide for them.
God Bless You and protect her.
