Description

About 4:30 Monday afternoon, I come down Center Street to make a right turn on Church. Now, it is rush hour in New Haven as most of the larger businesses end at 4:30. At the top of the walkway, a HUGE box truck is parked to the left, making the speeding traffic from the left impossible to see and creating a huge blind spot for the oncoming traffic. I have to inch out blaring the horn in the HOPE that an oncoming car sees me and stops.

Needless to say, there is no officer at the intersection to take control of the dopes doing construction (and/or, to direct traffic).

Had it on the way in as well. Coming off of the lovely Trumbull St. exit ramp southbound, I inch to the left lane to turn (an always difficult process due to the speeders and the crazies not yielding). I get to the bottom of the ramp at Orange St. and a young officer (who looks disinterested, if not asleep) wanders across the ramp and "kind of" puts his hand up so a HUGE dump truck can roar down the right and cut over (almost hitting the cars). My lord...didn't someone teach this kid at the police academy how to give CLEAR signs in traffic?

Back to Church and Center..I am going to find the foreman of this mess and tell him exactly what is taking place...(and if I am pulling out again and the view is not visble, I am stopping the car and calling 911....there is not a judge in the world that would convict me.). But once again, motorists are entirely on their own in New Haven, getting help from no one in authority.
