Do you even know what you are talking about? These are older homeless people. Not thugs. They are older people in their late 50s and 60s that have lived here their whole lives. Theres no stolen bikes, no prostitution, no human waste. And they're not allowed to have pets? They arent allowed to have food?
Lies.
@HomelessinOakland: I would suggest you walk this neighborhood before you comment. This photo (and many other being filed at the same location) clearly shown trash/waste and other commented sketchy activities as posted. Please clearly state your argument: are you saying illegal encampment is acceptable from a legal enforcement standpoint? and all these potential fire/hygiene hazard can be deemed negligible? because everyone should be 'good neighbors' and just let these hazards issue stay?
These occurrences as documented and submitted are clear violations of the Alameda municipal ordinance.
If you feel otherwise, I would suggest you to submit photos that shown your version of reality for these issues. Instead of allegedly claim others lying on these issues, I would highly recommend you to submit photos that show these streets is not currently a campsite/trailer rv park.
Wood street between west grand and 26 th same issues times 20. The prevailing odors from these encampments is disgusting and something that anybody's work place should not have to put up with. Ongoing for a year and half with nothing being done by the city. My property taxes have gone up went in reality they should have gone down with the encampment issue directly across the street .
You make a good point about property taxes that have gone up in these encampment areas. There should be some tax relief instead, but that is not likely to happen.
