I would like to request the results of this resolution. What did the city do to resolve this flooded street/clogged storm drain? What is being done by the city to prevent this in the future?

Due to the intensity and duration of the storm event, the drainage system was overwhelmed city wide. This location will be monitored for any maintenance that may be required.

Since you cannot provide the information requested on how this flooded road/clogged drain issue was resolved, allow me to do it for you. It was resolved because my husband, got up at 5:30am Wednesday Sept. 21 to find the road and our front yard flooded beyond belief. He then had to go out there and unclog the drain manually for about a half hour while cars whizzed by and splashed water at him. I realize this wasn't the only drain that had issues in VA Beach with the amount of rain we received in such a short amount of time, but the drain has been reported in the past, the drain was reported twice this past week, and the drain will need attention in the future. It is not our responsibility to keep the drain clear. It is the city's and I would appreciate a closer monitoring of this spot in the future. This particular drain effects almost all the residents of Bay Island since there is only one way on and off the island and it's on the main road. Thank you

This drain is clogged inside. Standing water is always visible below the grate. Mosquito magnet, as well as a cause of hazardous road flooding.
