This vehicle is not abandon. The car belongs to your neighbor. The Burlingame Police Department will not process this vehicle as abandon. We will monitor the area. I encourage you to contact the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center if you have an issue with your neighbor.
Yesterday, I talked with your neighbor and the owner of the car. I told him about the complaint of his car not being moved for one week. He denied the car was parked there for one week. He assured me he moved his car that day at about 3:00 pm to attend to some tasks. After his tasks, he returned to the neighborhood.
The car never moved yesterday, I was off. Supposedly 2 cars within 20 feet of each other both were used to run errands and both parked in exactly the same spots afterwards - it didn't happen
When a member of the Burlingame Police Department evaluates a vehicle to see if it is abandon, they look for several signs. Common evidence that a vehicle may be abandoned are:
1) a build up of dirt on or under the vehicle
2) trash, plant growth, debris, or a build up of cobwebs under the vehicle
3) the vehicle is parked illegally or crooked
4) the vehicle has a flat tire, collision damage severe enough that the vehicle can't be driven, or vehicle parts missing
5) the registered owner lives in the neighborhood
If a vehicle is parked on the street for 72 hours, it is not automatically classified as abandon. We will not process this vehicle as abandon and continue to monitor the area.
