Thanks for the reporting this issue. I have a few questions and a few comments. First, the questions: Where, exactly, on Ninth Street are the violations? What streets, exactly, are you referring to when you say "those surrounding it"? My comments are these: Ninth Street is owned by the City of Medford from Middlesex Ave. to the rear exit of Kappy's. Ninth Street from the rear exit of Kappy's to Brainard Rd. is private property owned by the condo buildings. We will no longer be towing or enforcing parking regulations on that stretch of roadway. If by "surrounding" streets you mean Middlesex Avenue, I will refer you to the State Police. Middlesex Avenue is a State Roadway under the jurisdiction of the Massachusetts State Police. I will have Brainard Avenue looked at over the weekend and enforce violations accordingly. Last, we as Police Officers have no way of knowing when a car has been parked in particular place for a long period of time. We respond when we are notified by our citizens of an infraction. We have far too many streets and parked cars to possibly be able to note which cars are in violation. I hope this is helpful.

Then it appears you erroneously chalked, tagged, and towed several vehicles in the area described by you. Also the MEDFORD Department of Public Works, maintains, plows,and posted a stop sign, and no parking signs. The Condos cannot and do not perform these task.
Also coincidentally it seems very odd that when you were here that the snow plow company truck with the phone # on it came out when you were here, and moved his vehicles a couple of inches to avoid being tagged and towed! I'm just saying what I observed.

Mr. Jones the city plows that section of roadway based on an agreement going back to the construction of the buildings. It was for some time a jurtictional gray area in the mind of some. We will no longer be towing on that section of roadway. As for the other issue: The Police will not be used as a tool for you to harass a neighbor whom you dislike. When we spoke on the phone I felt we had found common ground. But, when you post your clearly post inflammatory remarks. Your trolling for for a heated debate. I'm No longer going to engage you. I'll meet with the respective condo associations / property management companies and attempt to resolve the issue.

Thank you for the prompt and detailed reply. The area I'm referring to is 9th from Middlesex to Brainard, but there are plenty on Brainard road as well. It is unfortunate but certainly understandable that enforcement capabilities may be limited if condo or apartment buildings have an easement on that portion of the road. Thank you for clarifying that. However, there are plenty more out of state tags taking up spots on streets owned by the city of Medford. Many area depts are summonsing "residents" who illegally register vehicles out of state. Perhaps the CAD system could be helpful in keeping track? I realize there are more pressing crimes, but those of us who go by the book to pay our taxes in Medford ultimately bear the burden of people who cheat the system.

Thank you for clarifying your request. I don't know that the CAD has the ability to flag vehicles in that way, but I will look into it. As for question of improperly registered vehicles (out of state): We do issue citations for this violation. But the only way we discover the violation is during a Police interaction. Outside of that, I don't know how we would be able to discover the location of the owners residence. Several exemptions and grace periods for that violation exist. For resident parking streets we do not allow out of state vehicle to have parking permits. Proving that violation in court is not as simplistic as it may appear at first look. If you have a particular vehicle that is causing an issue please let me know and I'll look into it for you.
