This was also done on 91st and Harding. Lost half the block to yellow lines. Can someone from the town explain what the code is it seems that's someone just painted as much as they wanted to.

The Town of Surfside painted the lines as a visual boundary showing where vehicles are allowed to park and are not allowed to park. Miami-Dade County Ordinance allows for vehicles that are parked near intersections or near cross-walks to be issued parking citations. Vehicles were never legally allowed to park at the location shown in the photo or the areas that the curbs have now been painted yellow. Parking citations have been issued to violators in these areas in the past prior to the curbs being painted. The newly painted curbs now make it easier for motorists to determine if they are parking in a legal manner.

if I am correct, the ordinance says that cars can't park 7 feet from the curb or crosswalk and the line on the north side is over 20 feet long and eliminated ALL the parking available there. For 30 years or more people have been able to park in that location and all of a sudden WITHOUT any notice or even INPUT from the people that live there or the community, you guys decided to paint a yellow line. IF THE TRUTH IS THAT THERE IS AN ORDINANCE, why is it that the east side is not painted and most of the other streets between collins and harding are not painted. The ordinance doesn't apply to the east side. This is ridiculous. just happens to be that ONLY this street is in violation. I have tried contacting people by phone to take care of this and everybody passes it on to another person. I called a Mr. Ruiz a few times, never called me back and I tried Mr. Joseph and he doesn't answer his phone.
It seems to me that the CITY OF SURFSIDE is ANTI-FAMILIES. In the residential areas, you can only park in the street for 1 hour. Now in the NON-Residential area according to you guys, but where everybody lives, you have eliminated most of the additional parking that we have for guest or even FAMILIES that have more than one vehicle and need the street parking. SO THE QUESTION IS, WHERE ARE PEOPLE SUPPOSED TO PARK! I NEED DETAILS ON WHO MADE THIS DECISION AND WHY and how it betters the community being harassing the people that live there.

The present vehicle parking/standing setback distance from either an intersection or crosswalk is contained in Miami-Dade County Code Section 30-292 which provides distances of 20 feet or greater. The Miami-Dade County Ordinance allows for vehicles that are parked near intersections or near cross-walks to be issued parking citations and many vehicles have been issued parking citations for these violations.
