I believe the Five Points community is well aware of the dangers of Maysville Road. Kids still persist to race down the street at night. With the traffic count high, there are number of offenders per hour that exceed the speed limit. I think people forget they are driving through a neighborhood. With Five Points becoming more urban like and more families moving in, I think the city needs to start implementing more urban like principles that are seen in other states. For example more speed bumps, more stop signs, and more signs that remind people they are driving through a neighborhood. See attached picture. I know the signs help me remember to slow down in bigger cities when I am driving through an urban community area. We are all human after all. But Maysville Road is dangerous and something needs to be done. I think the best option would be more stop signs, one at Beirne and Ward. It also needs to be repaved. It is in horrible condition at some points.
