We appreciate your concern, however we are not currently under any water restrictions in Cambridge. We have allowed the abutters of Hastings Square to help maintain and beautify the park. We do not have a city run irrigation system at the park, and the abutters have taken it upon themselves to irrigate the grass in the park. We will make sure they know about your concern, and remind them of proper watering practices.

Other local towns are and MA farmers are struggling. And frankly, this is simply wasting our most precious resource. Most of that water is evaporating. I like to think Cambridge is a city with a conscious. Maybe we need to consider watering guidelines, if not restrictions. At least in communal areas, for now, to start to build a culture of respect for finite resources.
