Description

Raw sewage backed up from the main line and discharged onto my Mother's property last week after a rainstorm. WPCA was called and said this happens sometime in this area. They came and checked the line and said everything was flowing normally. The water from her house (sinks, etc) is not flowing out to the main line correctly. Roter Rooter was called and $422 later pulled a bunch of thick tree roots out of the line. They told her that was not a permanent fix and that it would cost her $3,700 to fix the problem.

My Mom has owned that house since the early 70's and there has never been any trees on her entire block. However, Trowbridge Park is directly across the street and is full of trees. This is where the roots are coming from, city trees on city property.

My Mom is elderly and her health cannot tolerate her worrying about how she is going to pay for this. Is there any recourse from the city? Can they help mitigate a problem that is originating from their property?

If anyone has any ideas, I am open to them all. I must help her in some way!
