الوصف
Traffic coming out of the Publix parking lot turning left onto northbound Chamblee Dunwoody has to play a game of chicken with the traffic coming westbound off of Dunwoody Village Parkway. The lack of protected left turn arrows in both directions is incredibly dangerous.
It also exacerbates another major problem--people turning left out of the other Publix parking lot exit--the one located about 100 yards north on Chamblee-Dunwoody that does not have a light. Inexplicably, people pulling out of there feel that they have the right of way and cut off traffic on the main road. Often, they accelerate at full speed in the center lane (meant for left turns only) all the way north to the Roberts intersection without an attempt to merge into the travel lane.
Please (a) put in protected left arrows at the intersection in question and (b) prevent left turns out of the Publix parking lot at the exit that does not have a light.

Don't hold your breath on this intersection being corrected to work PROPERLY! After years and many attempts, DeKalb County finally fixed this intersection, with a dedicated left turn arrow. The "great" City of Dunwoody then took our taxpayers' funds and TOOK DOWN THE LEFT TURN ARROW. I'd love to know how much money that cost us! They now cling to the flawed analysis that the intersection works, without the left turn arrow, because they don't want to be embarrassed by having this utter waste of money coming to light.
BTW, I tried to make this turn at 3:30 on a Tuesday, and had to run the red light to make it. I can't imagine what it's like when it's a busy traffic time. I've just started going straight and turning left through the Mellow Mushroom parking lot. It's the only dependable and SAFE way to make the left turn out of Publix. Our wonderfully insightful Dunwoody traffic planning has left me no other reasonable choices.
However, I do love your idea to prohibit left turns out of the Publix parking lot. There SHOULD BE a working intersection, with a left turn arrow, that people should be using. They should NOT be trying to turn left across two lanes of traffic to make an unprotected left turn.
