My neighbor has two large boxers. His backyard along my side of the fence is full of dog poop. I think it's unsanitary, it is attracting insects, and it reeks.
I'd like to know what neighbor options are for resolution.
Rules & Regulations pertaining to animals in the City of Geneva are contained in Chapter 77 of the Municipal Code. In this case, the R & R's do not include provisions for this nuisance in the yard of the owner or occupant but do when they affect another persons yard or property. This is not to say such nuisance is acceptable or "allowed" but that it is not specifically addressed in the Municipal Code. Resolutions generally begin with a person to person conversation (not texted, for example) with the owner of the dog or dogs. In the absence of progress, reaching out to Code Enforcement or the Ontario County Humane Society or your City Council person for support can sometimes be helpful in improving the situation.
