Believe it or not, there are some people in the neighborhood that have jobs and can only do this sort of work on weekends. Doesn't excuse the lack of permit, if that's true, but we shouldn't just jump to the conclusion that the only reason they're working on a Saturday is to avoid getting caught.

Agreed. Only mentioned it because it appeared to be a commercial contractor doing the work, as opposed to a resident doing it themselves. Seemed to match the pattern we've seen in the neighborhood of quick weekend jobs without a permit. Certainly not accusing anyone of anything, could have been an oversight/coincidence - just wanted to mention that detail to the codes department because it can be helpful when investigating similar incidents.

This definitely didn't appear to be a homeowner weekend DIY project, but professional/commercial contractors doing the job.

I drove by and didn't see any evidence of work going on but I will make an effort to drive by periodically this week as well as this weekend.

Work seems finished so there's now nothing to see. It started on Friday and went on through yesterday. I live down the street and was going to report it myself. It definitely appeared to be commercial contractors working on the project and it wasn't an emergency repair with zero time to get a permit. I've seen their truck at this address a few times before (probably to do the estimate?) Photo attached was taken Saturday late morning after the trailer of debris left.
