Last Fall the Lorain water dept dug up a rather large part of my yard to replace a pipe. They broke a few slabs of stone in the process. When they replaced the dirt after replacing the small section of pipe they flattened the ground as best they could. Since it was late Fall they told me they couldn't bring topsoil and seed the lawn. I was told they would be back early Spring to repair the yard and plant grass. I've not heard a word about it since they left the yard in shambles. I was given zero notice that the water dept. was coming to work in my yard. I came outside and there was a backhoe in my yard digging a deep hole with about 4 other employees standing around. I would like to have my yard replaced to at least close to the condition it was in before the day the Water Dept came.

To follow up on the original request, I can report that while the Lorain Water Department did come back, they worked only on the tree lawn that fronts E. Erie. The major destruction took place on the EAST side of the house, along which runs Andress Court. Again, the activity was destructive--the crew dug up the sandstone sidewalk that ran around the edge of the house, having been installed when the house was build more than 110 years ago. When my nephew requested they salvage the sandstone, the crew ignored him and buried it in the huge hole they had created. So, besides all the unnecessary and disruptive digging, they destroyed the historic walkway, leaving only clay on the surface to walk on. Such disrespect for private property is an outrage and to not even try to repair the damage as promised is even more disturbing. Can you imagine the muddy mess we had as we tried to walk around our house when the snow melted and now when it rains? Please let us know when the landscape restoration, including filling, grading and sodding, will take place.
