I just received an email regarding this request for a stop sign stating By SAFARIAN, KAJAZ: 8/22/2016 4:07:28 PM Based on past 3 year crash report, this intersection is not warranted for all way stop at this time.
First, I disagree with that type of assessment. Are we supposed to wait for crashes to occur before addressing a problem?
Second, it's a slow speed intersection, the problem is that most people EXPECT it to be a 4-way stop and more than half of those entering it stop anyway on Kilbourne, and then it becomes this dance of cars waiting for them to proceed. Perhaps spend an hour out there observing the actual behavior of drivers instead of just looking at a 3 year crash report.
I want to know if anyone has been out to observe actual traffic behavior at this intersection, or if you just looked a a report that said there haven't been any crashes yet.
It should be clear to anyone looking at the intersection that it is appropriate for an all-way stop.
