That is sad. So many trees have been lost in the West End in recent years. Trees not only help to improve the environment, they also add to property values -- just check out the tree cover in Alameda's wealthiest neighborhoods. The loss of trees harms not only property owners and neighborhoods, but also the City of Alameda due to lower property tax revenue.

I really wish the city could transplant those doomed trees that are in the parking lot adjacent to califia. They are beautiful they have spectacular Fall Foliage.

Tree inspection is scheduled for the week of May 30 and response will follow.

Public tree is 10" Gledistia and no vandalized young tree was observed.
