The right-hand sharrow gets covered up by parked cars. When parked cars are present, the left-hand sharrow becomes the guide and the lane functions essentially like a bike lane.

I like this idea.
Why didn't they put these in when the avenue was repaved?

This would be great. The addition of sharrows on Whitney has been identified as a top priority by a number of neighborhood groups and elected officials in New Haven.
Since the city has complete control of Whitney Avenue all the way to the Hamden line, this shouldn't be a problem, right?

Some of the bicyclists are very rude and don't realize that I and my dog have more legal right to the sidewalk than they do. One of them cursed at me this morning when he had to slow down because my dog was in his way ---- on the sidewalk!.
Get the share-rows in place on Whitney!
And in the meantime, cyclists headed to Yale to work: mind your manners on the sidewalks!!!
