Description
Construction on Kingshighway is leading to increased traffic and speeding on Madison Street. As a resident I am willing to deal with the increased traffic while the streets are improved, but the speeding has become a huge problem. We have a lot of toddlers and young children that reside on our street, including hearing impaired children. Many of us enjoy spending time on our front porches and in our yards and it has become much too dangerous to have our children outside. The police will come and sit periodically, but it isn't having an impact. I have witnessed some cars traveling over 60mph. It is constant and all of our neighbors are very concerned. We want to enjoy our street and play with our children out front, but at this time it is not possible. Can we have barricades or something placed on Madison that will cut down on the excessive speeding? If not, I don't want to imagine what may happen to a young child due to a few irresponsible drivers.
