Description
Several large potholes exist at this intersection. One pothole, in particular, is very deep. So much so, that cars are forced to drive out of the lane to avoid damage to their vehicles. The safety issue is that an accident can easily occur. Bicyclists are also at risk. The Sidewalk/Bile path crosses right thru this area, too. The last time this large pothole was "patched" the crew just tossed "cold patch" into the hole...the cold patch was dumped on top of existing sand, dirt, and rubble. If the pothole had been cleaned out, perhaps with a strong jet of compressed air, like I see used by crews working on cement roads, I'm sure the patch job would have held up longer. If the crew had done a better job in the first place this situation might have lasted longer. It costs less to do the job right. I am respectfully requesting that these potholes be repaired on behalf of a. 74 homes in our subdivision. PS, Ridge Top Drive is right in front of the Waterford Twp Service Garage on Tubbs Rd. We have failing pothole repairs at the north end of a Ridgetop at Tubbsv, too.

Chuck:
Thank you for the information. We have forwarded to our Maintenance Dept. In the future, for the quickest response, please contact the Road Commission directly. We do not have the staff to monitor all of these private sites that invite people to post info. You can reach us at 877-858-4804 or fill out a form online at www.rcocweb.org (click on "Contact Us").
Just a quick note: Due to the quantity of potholes in the county and the number of staff we have available to patch them, we simply do not have time to spend "prepping" a pothole. We are trying to fill as many holes as quickly as possible. Additionally, we know the cold patch used in the winter is only a temporary solution. However, there is no other product available, at a reasonable price, that can be used in winter. We constantly try to balance efficiency with cost-effectiveness while working within the realities of our budget.
Again, thank you for the information.

As you must know, Crescent Lk Rd was resurfaced this spring and new guard rails installed at the Clinton River overpass. And, some "cold patch" activity has been done on Ridgetop Dr. However, I feel there is, or certainly will be, a big problem when it rains. They never fixed the area where rain water will drain into the ditch, right next to the headpost of the guard rail where Ridgetop Dr joins with Crescent Lk Rd. There is always a large volume of water that cascades down Ridgetop at that intersection, when it rains, and I feel that the area that should aid the runoff of water was not properly finished and will certainly fall apart. I hope that this notification will prompt an inspection and hopefully result in a properly prepared water run off. After all the expense in resurfacing Crescent Lk Rd, and digging out ditches to aid water run off, and the addition of new guard rails, that by ignoring this detail could eventually jeopardize the work.
Thank you for your time.

Hello Again. The saga continues!!! There is a pothole so large at the end of Ridgetop where it meets Crescent Lk Rd that we've had to put one of your orange barrels into the hole!! Yes!!! Come on now. How many times are you going to send out a patching crew to fix this problem? If they would do the job correctly it would be DONE!
Your crews can't just throw more hot patch at the hole...they need to clean out the loose debris and chunks of broken asphalt that is in the hole first. Isn't there any way you could have this problem resolved permanently?
Please send someone out to survey the situation and ultimately repair that area of our street.

Chuck, as noted previously, unfortunately, given the quantity of potholes we must address, we are not able to spend a lot of time prepping each individual hole. If that were the case, we would patch far fewer potholes, which means we would likely not be able to get potholes within subdivisions, such as this one, because we would only have time to focus on the busiest roads -- safety dictates that we must prioritize those potholes on roads with the most traffic traveling at the highest speeds.
For best results, in the future please contact the Road Commission directly. We are not able to frequently monitor all the for-profit websites where people are encouraged to post information. You can reach us directly at www.rcocweb.org (click on the "contact us" button on the top of the home page) or via 877-858-4804.
Thank you.

There are a pair of pretty deep potholes about 20 feet in from where the crosswalk at Crescent Lk Rd meets Ridgetop.
There are other potholes along the entire shore stretch of Ridgetop Dr.
It would be great if you could put our street on your list of streets in need of help!
