Hello I am writing to you as a concerned parent with high expectations for the children of Haverhill. I frequently bring my daughter to the park to play on the playground and walk around the lake. There are a few unsatisfactory problems. For one the playground equipment has been deteriorating which may eventually pose as a safety risk. Another is the high volume of children that come to use the equipment which isn't large enough to accommodate them all. 3rd the varying ages of children from 1-13+ that all insanely have cram on this equipment to have a good time but can't always do so. 4th is the conditions. My daughter is 1 yrs old and when she walks up to me an hands me a cigarette butt, drug baggy or a nip bottle of alcohol she found on the ground there I am completely disgusted and up hauled that this is the environment my child is exposed to. I want her to get out and have fun and socialize as it is important for her development but this makes me not want to. And being a parent, that as a child wasn't given the right opportunities, I would like to show my child she deserves so much more. And I'm sure there are many other parents who feel the same way. All I'm truly asking is that you show that the children are worth it. I went to visit my mother in amesbury and they have a beautiful park there for the children near the high school that shows they do care. Please let me know that something can be done here for the kids.
