Sidewalks are required when new construction is built or major renovations are done otherwise property owners do not have to put in sidewalks on their property. I am not saying that sidewalks should not be carried to the nearest intersection, just merely stating that the laws regarding sidewalks are limited. I think sidewalks should be continued to the nearest intersection to give people a safe place to walk out of the roadway. I live in an area where sidewalks are limited and sometime you have a sidewalk that ends and the next one begins blocks away and you have to walk on the grass or side of the road to get where you are going. I don't like it at all but I have found that the issues related to sidewalks are frequently ignored or pushed to the side because someone has a different concern that people think is more important even though it might not be. It's just how people view things in their mind as being important.
