Hi, the volume has not been adjusted at all. The beep is still incredibly loud at night. I understand the need for an audible sound during the day for disabled people, but it's frustrating and unfair to be forced to hear it all night when nobody is using it.

This article from almost three years ago mentions new crosswalks that have lower volumes at night. Is it possible for some to be installed in this area?

How can you be sure that no one is using this crosswalk at night? As we mentioned before the beep has been turned down but must be in operation 24/7.

Hi, the volume is still unnecessarily loud for night hours. I know nobody is using it at night because the beep of it not being used is keeping me awake all night. Also, I've tried looking for the law/regulation that requires a 24-hour audible sound but am unable to find it. Could you point me to the correct location? Thanks!

This can be found in the Manual Uniform on Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) sections 4E.09-4E13. This section we derived from work with disability groups and uses the federal Americans with Disability Act as a foundation. If the city were not to follow this we would be in violation of federal law. In addition our Council has adopted the MUTCD as the cities code for Traffic Control devices.
