Description

The signal light here needs to be set so that more preference and time is given to the north and southbound Backlick Rd. rush hour traffic. I've seen the light change for the Backlick Rd. traffic from red to green and back to red in less than 30 seconds to allow a single car to proceed from Villa Park in the early morning hours despite the presence of a fairly heavy volume of traffic that was still trying to pass through the intersection. Making things even worse, this intersection is also plagued by a light that gives preference to the southbound Backlick left turn lane regardless of whether there is a vehicle waiting there in the left turn lane to turn left or not. I've seen this occur when I am heading to work between 4-6am, even when very little traffic is on the road. It dramatically slows down the normally heavy Backlick northbound rush hour traffic.
