Unfortunately, as previously reported, it will take someone being hit by a car before this will happen. This has been requested at every turn, brought up in corridor meetings, and mentioned for years amongst the neighbors. With the influx of children and young families moving in to the Farrior Hills area and the outflux of retired persons that do not leave home, it is only a matter of time before someone is hurt or killed. Hopefully someone, with the ability, can do something before this inevitable tragedy occurs. Why wouldn't you want to give more people walkability option to both sides of North Hills?

With the plan to expand Six Forks currently under development, it's critical that this issue be addressed, lest we end up with another Capital Blvd (where pedestrians and cyclists take their lives in their hands every time they try to cross at the existing crosswalks). Given that residential densities on both sides of Six Forks in the North Hills area are even higher than around Capital, this could end up being an even worse situation.

Note that having pedestrian triggers at crosswalks isn't the answer once a street goes beyond 4 lanes--it simply doesn't give older pedestrians or young children time to cross safely, and it exacerbates the very traffic congestion problems that the new plan is supposed to ameliorate. A greenway-style overpass or underpass (i.e., no steps, so as to be bicycle-friendly) would be vital!

The developer wanted the city of Raleigh to pay for pedestrian improvements. I believe the city agreed this improvement should be the responsibility of the developer.

An overpass was perviously requested by the developer before the expansion of the Midtown but prior mayor denied the request. Vegas saw the similar problem and to reduce incidents and continue traffic flow all pedestrian foot traffic was moved above traffic. City of Raleigh please reconsider.

Recently watched several construction workers (trying to get to work) have very close calls with passing motorists. It is a shame to know that this type of danger can be prevented yet nothing happens. It is only a matter of time with Beach Music, Friday Tributes, spring/summer weather and increased foot traffic before someone is injured or worse.
