On street parking for residents of 216 5th Ave. N., a.k.a. 5th Avenue Lofts, is virtually impossible. Across the street the Palladium has regular events taking most parking spaces from residents of 5th Avenue Lofts. I am requesting 2 Hour Limit resident parking be put in place on 5th Ave. North i in front of and across from 5th Avenue Lofts and that speed limits be reduced to 20 miles an hour with enforcement. We have families with children and infants in our building… I have observed many vehicles at 35MPH+ and pedestrians and residents of 5th Ave. lofts are put at risk. I am a resident of St. Petersburg, Florida and a registered voter. I will not continue residentcy here if issues like these continue to disrupt our city. Thank you for your time and consideration.

I live about a block away and I can confirm that the parking at the palladium is causing issues for other residents nearby.
As far as the speed limit on 5th avenue N goes, people do regularly speed through this portion and completely ignore the pedestrian crosswalk right-of-way. Some of us don't have infants or small children but would still prefer not to be killed by car.

(posted on behalf of Assistant Chief Luke Williams, SPPD) Thank you for your SeeClickFix dated January 22, 2016. Chief Holloway has asked me to respond directly to you regarding the issue concerning parking and speeding in the area of 2nd Avenue and 5th Street North. The information you provided was forwarded to Community Liaison Sergeant Terri Hubble to investigate.
Sergeant Hubble advised she spoke to Transportation Supervisor, Michael Frederick and asked if they could conduct a study of the area to assess if a Crosswalk Warning Light could be installed, as well as inspect the area to see if it met the criteria for permitted parking spots. Michael Frederick advised they were working on the issue and installing cameras to log the vehicle and pedestrian traffic in the area. He advised he would be sending out an email response with his findings as soon as they were completed. Please contact him at 893-7843 for further questions.
Sergeant Hubble also spoke to the Traffic Section and was told several High Visibility Enforcement Operations have been conducted in the area. All of the District II Community Liaison Officers were informed during their proactive time to conduct traffic operations in this area as well.
