WOW! I already was stunned with the Mayor proudly proclaimed that Farrel was staying in Ansonia and moving to a brand new building on what was a beautiful hilltop with the HELP of the city. Not a single mention of their responsibility to demolish their former buildings downtown and make the sites ready for redevelopment!

Now, they seem to think throwing some red paint on a building half falling into the river will get them in the good graces of residents? Farrel's parent company EASILY afford to clean up their Main Street disaster with pocket change. Whose going to make them?

FYI... Farrel does not own these buildings. They have been leasing from a private owner for years. Farrel had the opportunity to move out of Ansonia to a more economical location to build their new facility but opted to stay local because of the history they had with the town. Maybe a little research of facts might be in order before posting anything else derogatory about a company that has contributed to the economic growth of Ansonia for over a century. Just sayin...

So the City of Ansonia needs to start fining Ansonia Developers LLC and Pandel Properties LLC on a daily basis due to the blighted conditions of their properties until they are either redeveloped by totally revamping the existing structure into something attractive and fitting with downtown or demolish the buildings and sell the land if they don't wish to put something new on it themselves.

I saw the ex-blight officer driving around in a city vehicle today. I wonder what position he has now?

When you say "ex-blight officer" are you telling us the blight officer spoken of here just months ago (who sat in his office and waited for residents to report blight instead of driving around the taking his own notes as he should have) is no longer with the city?

Who exactly IS working on the GROWING Ansonia blight problem? They should begin with a nice letter to Ansonia Developers LLC and Pandel Properties LLC giving them 60 days to submit a plan for those properties or fines begin. NO, painting the windows red is NOT a plan.

The blight office quit last year but apparently he has another job with the city. He was a waste too, never would call back saying he could or couldn't get a property cleaned up. That's what irked me about the blight office, why couldn't \they call you back saying I am sorry, I can't do anything if they couldn't get a property cleaned up. No courteousy or respect for Ansonia's resident.

Seems like something is not right with the blight office as a remark or two said if you sent or left a message no resolution was ever made it seems im not the only one with that problem to the best of my knowlege ive been watching best i can as i have complaints with blight left message a day or two before novak left and never heard any respo se back. I think the city needs a full time blight officer and maybe a part timer or two to initiate and follow thru on all or most complaints to be able to keep the office moving available and the full timer more timr to do his job lot of time can be spent going back and forth with a court case or a homeowner who refuses to respond i live next to one. Also without any response from city hall reguarding complaints left on this site ir another people think the worse and get frustrated if this is not ghe correct sight than word should be put out what the correct site is.people just want answers. Also the part time positions would go along way. Lastly an answer ir two re tge diwntown buildingd needs to be addressed who owns them why are they sitting in such a messy state and who is paying to do tge little but of paint tgat was done and lastly how can the city expect homeowners to do what they say not wat they do

Having frequent deliveries in the area for a parcel carrier who allows routes to drivers familiar with a territory, it amazes me this Main and North Main corridor still continues to crumble. I also rented an apartment in the area for 6 months and was pressured to move due to the type of other renters and residents moving-in or living around me. Another downside Ansonia must realize, if they continue to allow these structures to crumble in their downtown section much longer they will only attract people who are desperate enough to have a roof over their head coupled with questionable or special entitlement backgrounds which sadly spread across the entire town profile. I can’t count on how many times a renter open there door for my delivery and was overcome by the medical aroma from Mary-Janes perfume. Even some of the packages seem questionable.

One would think the job of as blight officer (with proper authority) would be simple:

1. Identify blighted property. This means GO DRIVE AROUND, take down addresses and photograph the property in violation. In Ansonia, this could keep someone busy 24/7 so they won't be bored.

2. Send a certified letter to the owner of the property explaining it violates the blight ordinance, how (attach a copy) and explain if the situation is not resolved in 30, 60 days $X fine per day will be charged.

3. Check for improvement once or twice. None by the deadline? Start attaching the fine as a lien on the property. That alone would pay the blight officer's salary for a year in about a month.

You'd me AMAZED how fast blight vanishes when owners discover Ansonia is actually enforcing it's ordinance and they have to cough up checks unless they fix the problem!

Heck, the two former Farrel properties above would rake in tens of thousands in fines in a few months. TEAR THE BUILDINGS DOWN.

Also Patricia. As far as I no. The last blight officer Ansonia had was. Doug Novack. He was blight officer and public works top dog. Right before Christmas for reasons still unclear to me Noivak quit his employment from what I understand All of The city of Ansonia. To my knowledge which may be very little. The city has not replaced the blight officer and they put a top man in public works for 6 months I guess to trry and do right by the town and have the right people in the right jobs its only my guess. But just another piece you should no.I have also heard and have seen in writing that this is not an official city of Ansonia complaint page. Again maybe I missed something while that remark may be true I have not once seen or heard of another page for the public to go to for official complaints. Myself I liked the idea of a page where multiple people can log their complaint so others can join in or just pay ATTN to what's going on.

Ansonia has a facebook page, you can complain on there.

The problem with a FaceBook or a FaceSlap page is it has Administrative rights where the specific creator of his/her/ or town site has the ability to remove unwanted comments or factual information developed into a complaint. Similar to a self-contained socialized government where you accept the rules of ones page or else your comment is in-the-trash, as analogized through the appearance of upper Main Street Ansonia. Comments have a better chance of survival here.
Free speech and the way someone or anyone wants to reflect a valid complaint is the driving force for all to see throughout the World-Wide-WEB when using sites such as this one. An individual can simply GOOGLE Ansonia complaints tagging this SEE-Click-Fix site before even considering, financially investing and visually injuring themselves when considering a move or visit into Ansonia knowing surrounding towns are improving much quicker. For giggles I just GOOGLED and sadly and remarkably came up with this old Tid-Bit developed by a visitor 8 years ago and nothing really has improved by comparison ( Ouchhhh ):
