Dunwoody--Please don't give your standard response that the issue has had a study done and a turn signal is not needed. Those of us who live in this area know very well that things worked better when the turn signal arrow was there.

Hopefully no one will be injured before the City Fathers step up to the plate. This is a long running issue that needs thoughtful consideration. Some of us squealed when it was taken out after many months of working to get it put in by the county,

The left turn signal was removed several years ago to improve traffic flow on Chamblee Dunwoody Road. We are making adjustments to the timing to allow more time for left turns from Dunwoody Village Parkway during heavy traffic times.

The left turn signal was not removed years ago. And you can allow all the time in the world for left turns, but if everyone is going straight ahead or right turn, the additional time won't help. Dunwoody Public Works made a big mistake and won't admit it and fix it.

Okay, this City of Dunwoody response just begs the following question: Is there no management review of the city's responses? The stated reason for removing the left turn arrow was to IMPROVE traffic flow on Chamblee-Dunwwody. The city's response to increase the green light timing on DVP is absolutely baffling. If the DVP green light time is increased to the point that more than 1-2 cars coming out of Publix can make the left turn, this will NEGATIVELY impact the traffic flow on Chamblee-Dunwoody. Clearly, if any thought had been given to this response, the only practical way to improve traffic flow on Chamblee-Dunwoody, without crippling the left turning traffic from Publix is to put in a left turn arrow, WITH A SENSOR to properly gate the timing of that left turn arrow with the actual presence of left turning traffic. This way, it there are no or few cars turning left, the Chamblee-Dunwoody traffic flow is improved, while still allowing the proper amount of cars to turn left out of Publix.

What happened to this issue???

The signal timing was adjusted at this intersection in January. Follow up observations indicated that the traffic was clearing on Dunwoody Village Parkway. Thank you for using SeeClickFix.
