The City of Oakland Public Works Department has received this issue. It is registered as service request #623754. Thank you, in advance, for your patience as we work through a backlog of pothole service requests. Unfortunately the City does not have enough funding to repave all streets in poor condition. With limited funding, our response to resurfacing requests is limited to minor pavement and pothole repairs only. Our Street Maintenance Department will assess your street and determine whether temporary measures might be appropriate. Please understand that this work may be limited to pothole or other minor repairs, and that we have many similar requests. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner. The backlog of streets in Oakland needing pavement currently is $435 million and growing.

And yet Oakland, which has no funds for street maintenance and repair, plans on throwing money at the Raiders to get them to remain here. We have appalling priorities, here in Oakland. Just appalling.

And the city just gave Larry Reid and his friends what, 11 million dollars, that they do not have to pay back if half of some future apartment project (that they say they are going to build, even though they have never built anything before or managed any similar project, ever) are rented at below market rates. Of course, by the time the city figures out that these apartments will never be built, the money will be spent with no hope of getting it back. BUT god forbid we spend those millions on infrastructure maintenance instead of giving it to Larry and his friends.

Wow I didn't hear about the Larry Reid issue, but Oakland cannot afford to build a sports facility, when we need potholes fixed, the homeless dealt with, the illegal dumpers dealt with and we don't need brand new buildings when there are a few thousand already in dire need of some kind of help. Oakland will never be a San Francisco, new York, etc. City leaders can't deal with the much needed issues, let alone trying to make Oakland something its not. How bout fixing it for the citizens who already live here. This Mayor is in fantasy land.
