Many of us have large piles of leaves that were swept to the curb, in anticipation of the scheduled pickup. Additionally, the City advertised the fact that unlike in past years, they would complete an area before moving on to another one. However, it appears that you scheduled too large an area for pick-up in one day, so the job was not completed as scheduled. Do no schedule this for some time in February. Please get it done next week. You could even come through this weekend (like they did last Sunday) and get some of them.
