This is a persistent problem and related to car break-ins and the lack of clean-up by nearby businesses. Given Code Enforcement's lack of leaderships and record on follow-through, it's like difficult to get consistent action on this by property owners. It'd be great if Code Enforcement could really get the message through that regular sweeping is necessary--it's good for business, customer, and residents.
This was closed incorrectly. It was not done, so because City of Oakland doesn't care what it's streets look like, and we do, we just swept it up ourselves today. I plan to make call to the department to ask what "closed" means to them. I think there should be an ignored option, so the city can accurately coomunicate with us.
