Dog owners are not cleaning up after their pets. They are using lawns and sidewalks as their personal bathrooms and leaving it for the home owners to either step in or clean up themselves. This is a very inconsiderate practice. Please train your pets to go at home or at least have the courtesy to pick up after them.

If you can ever get a photo of someone doing this, we can act on it. If you talk with your neighbors about this, someone may be able to catch them in the act. Some people with similar problems take it upon themselves to enhance community awareness by passing out fliers informing people nicely about how to attend to their pets. They may describe how it causes inconvenience to to others and conveys a lack of respect.

I have the same thing in my development in Upper Pottsgrove. I just moved up to this area and never in my life have I seen so many lazy, ignorant dog owners!!!! Something needs to be done!

almost a year later and it's still an issue. someone let their dog use our sidewalk as its bathroom and left it there for everyone to see or walk in. I'm really surprised at how people have so little respect for others.

Bonnie, If you really want to cut back on this problem AND raise revenue at the same time, why don't you have the police check for the required dog license and cite those not in compliance?

We are not permitted to use fines to raise revenue, but I will look into what enforcement options we have.

If you tackle the quality of life issues in Pottstown i.e. cleaning up after your dog, littering, walking down the middle of the street instead of on the sidewalk when cars are coming, the offenders will get tired of being cited and either comply or move, a win win for Pottstown's taxpaying residents. By the way.. where does money from fines go anyway?
