Potts Park on Tee-air street should have a door to close off the park. My son ran out of the park and almost got hit by a car that was speeding by. Also there are two driveways that back up to the entrance and exit of the park. I think having a closing gate would make this park a lot safer.

Thank you for meeting with the fence vendor. I understand the concern about maintenance and equipment because of the grass.
Please see this excerpt from parksandrecsbusiness.com:
"Published in October 2000, the ASTM #F2049 fencing standard sets out to minimize the likelihood of injury or death. A primary concern is vehicular intrusion into a playground-- a vehicle crashing through a “fence.” Another potential problem is kids climbing a fence, squeezing through openings (in it or under it) and running away from a play area and into a street or nearby body of water. A fence may deter baseballs, soccer balls and other intrusions from striking children using the playground, as well as hindering ball players from chasing runaway balls into the playground. The standard also addresses the minimum height (48 inches based on kids under 5 years old) for a gate latch in order to “limit or delay” a child from opening the gate. It specifies the latch should be shielded to prevent lacerations to a child’s face.
Fencing also minimizes the likelihood of children being easily abducted. It is important to note fencing is in addition to supervision."
You might want to ask a fencing vendor about a double door latching fence. One side opens freely and the other is bolted down securely; when maintenance needs to enter they can unlock the stationary door and have the same amount of room they currently have.

Princeton's Insurance/Risk Mgmt consultant, per a site visit, concluded that Potts Park is in compliance with playground safety code and that installing a gate to fully enclose the park is not required and would be unnecessary.
