How come no one ever comes through to enforce the 2-hour neighborhood parking rules? We pay for the stickers, but 7 weeks have gone by (yes, I work at home; I pay attention) and not a single city parking person.
Not only do the residents notice how difficult it is to park, but non-residents know that, since parking is NOT enforced, they can park here, day after day, all day long, with impunity. The cars parked here do not belong to people who are shopping on College Ave. The owners are long-term parkers, entirely defeating the purpose of the PAID stickers.
There are many children on this block, most of whom try and play in the street. But with so many cars now parked on the block, the kids are having a much harder time.
Finally, since Rockridge is such "transit-rich" neighborhood, it would seem to be a very good idea to get many of these long-term parkers out of their cars and onto transit. Or maybe with those new bike racks nearby (great!) they could get on a bike. I do.

Yeah, Sam is right. This car was across the street from my house all day yesterday and today it has been parked in front of mine since 9:30 am (almost 2 pm now). And there are about 4 or 5 other cars like that here, too.
Last week the enforcement person came through in the morning, but he got hung up with the Waste Management truck delivering cans (another mess, right?), lost patience and just zoomed on up the block without checking anyone.
What gives? This block is so close to College that you would think that even the merchants would want the cars to move along for their shoppers, instead of letting BART people use up all the spaces.
